Technical Support Engineer
Location: Fort William or Inverness
Contract: Full time, permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday
Sector: Engineering, Aquaculture, Sales
GroAqua helps fish farmers grow healthy fish, on sea sites and on land. We design and supply the systems that keep a modern farm running: feed barges, feeders and cameras, oxygen generation and water treatment, fish handling, and the digital monitoring that ties it all together. From offices in Inverness, Fort William and Stornoway, as well as Norway and the Faroe Islands, we work with the biggest names in aquaculture.
The role
You will programme, install, service and repair the equipment our customers depend on. In-water cameras, feed distribution and monitoring systems, and in-water oxygen monitoring and regulation systems.
This is field work. Most days you will be on a working fish farm rather than at a desk, and the job is a mix of planned installation and getting something running again when it has stopped. Farms do not wait, so the work needs doing to a high standard first time.
You will be the person the customer sees. What you fit and how you leave a site is what they judge us on.
What you will be doing
• Install camera, feed monitoring and oxygen systems on customer sites.
• Programme the systems you install and configure them to the site.
• Service and maintain equipment already in the field.
• Assess installed systems and report on their condition.
• Diagnose faults and put them right.
• Work safely on and around water, in all weathers.
Requirements
What you will need
• A recognised electrical or engineering qualification. [Level to be confirmed]
• A full UK driving licence.
• Experience of fault finding, diagnosis and repair.
• A proactive approach, and the ability to work on your own initiative.
• A flexible, safety-conscious, hands-on attitude.
What would help
• Experience installing wired and wireless communication links.
• Experience of camera software systems.
• Experience on fish farms, or other marine or remote sites.
• Instrumentation and control experience.
What we offer
• An excellent remuneration package is available to the successful applicant.
• Enhanced hourly rates depending on experience.
• 32 days holiday a year, including public holidays.
• Company pension scheme.
• Private health care.
• Company sick pay.
