Electrician or Approved Electrician

Location: Fort William or Inverness
Contract: Full time, permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday
Sector: Engineering, Aquaculture, Sales

GroAqua helps fish farmers grow healthy fish, on sea sites and on land. We design and supply the systems that keep a modern farm running: feed barges, feeders and cameras, oxygen generation and water treatment, fish handling, and the digital monitoring that ties it all together. From offices in Inverness, Fort William and Stornoway, as well as Norway and the Faroe Islands, we work with the biggest names in aquaculture.

The role
You will work across the full range of installations we look after, aquaculture, commercial and industrial.

The work is a mix of new installation, planned maintenance, and inspection and testing. One week it is fixed wire installation on a commercial site, the next it is an EICR or fault finding on a farm. You will not do the same job twice in a fortnight.

Fish farm experience is useful but not essential, most electricians who join us have never worked on one. What matters is that you can walk onto an unfamiliar installation and work out what is going on.

What you will be doing
    • Install fixed wire circuits in aquaculture and industrial premises, with the right circuit protection and enclosure methods.
    • Carry out inspection and testing, and produce electrical installation condition reports.
    • Carry out PAT, the testing of portable appliances.
    • Maintain electrical circuits and fixtures.
    • Find faults, diagnose them and put them right.

Requirements

What you will need
    • SVQ in Electrical Installation at SCQF level 7, SVQ level 3, or equivalent.
    • BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations with Amendment 4. [Or confirm whether an earlier amendment is accepted]
    • BS 7671 Inspection and Testing, the SELECT 209 and 214 courses.
    • A valid ECS card.
    • A full UK driving licence.
    • Experience across a range of environments.
    • A proactive approach, and the ability to work on your own initiative.

What would help
    • Experience on fish farms or other marine sites.
    • Experience of three phase installations and motor control.

What we offer
    • An excellent remuneration package is available to the successful applicant.
    • Enhanced hourly rates depending on experience.
    • 32 days holiday a year, including public holidays.
    • Company pension scheme.
    • Private health care.
    • Company sick pay.
